PENRITH ACREAGE — HORSE ARENA SPECIALISTS
Mulgoa, Wallacia, Luddenham, Castlereagh, Llandilo, Berkshire Park. Western Sydney's horse country gets its own kind of dirt and its own kind of drainage. We build arenas that ride true through wet seasons and dry.
Owner-operated. Fixed-price quotes. $20M insured.
PENRITH HORSE COUNTRY
Penrith LGA has the biggest concentration of horse properties in Western Sydney outside the Hawkesbury — Mulgoa, Wallacia, Luddenham, Castlereagh, Berkshire Park, Llandilo. But most of the big arena builders work out of the South Coast or the Hunter and treat Western Sydney like a one-day drive-by job. We're based 20 minutes away in East Kurrajong. Same crew on day 1 and day 5. Same number you call before quoting. Same person you call when you have a question 12 months later.
WHAT WE BUILD
Standard 20m × 60m, short 20m × 40m. Levelled and graded for true dressage work.
Larger pads with edge drainage trenches for the impact loads of jumps.
14m to 22m. Perfect for breaking, lunging, training. Crowned base, edge drainage.
Multi-discipline arenas built for kids and family riders. Robust, low-maintenance.
Acreage-scale clearing, take-off and landing pads, drainage on tracks.
When the original drainage didn't survive a Western Sydney storm — we tear out and rebuild correctly.
LOCAL KNOWLEDGE
Penrith acreage sits on a mix of alluvial soils, reactive clays, and the occasional pocket of sandstone shelf — and which one your block has determines how the arena gets built. Mulgoa and Wallacia tend to clay; Luddenham and Llandilo are mixed; Castlereagh and Berkshire Park sit closer to the floodplain. We've worked across all of them.
Clay that swells in wet, shrinks in dry. Without geofabric, your aggregate base just gets pumped into the clay over time and the arena sinks unevenly. We fabric every clay site, no exceptions.
Often inconsistent within a single property — one corner clay, another corner sandy loam. We map the variability during the site visit so the build accounts for it, not after the bucket goes in.
Higher water table, slower-draining subsoils. Pad usually built up rather than cut down, with extensive perimeter drainage running to the lowest point on the block.

For most rural-zoned properties under certain size and setback thresholds, the arena is exempt or complying development. Confirm with Penrith Council before starting — we'll flag the situation during your site visit.
Yes. Most arena jobs are on properties with horses already on them. We work with you on yarding logistics, sound impact, and access timing so the build doesn't disrupt the horses too badly.
Depends on discipline. Sand-and-fibre is the all-rounder, washed sand alone for dressage on a budget, rubber-and-sand for high-impact jumping. We don't supply surface but can introduce you to local installers.
